88. At the foot of Inca ruins in Ollentaytambo, Peru / U stóp ruin Inków w miasteczku Ollantaytambo, Peru

The town of Ollantaytambo lies literally at the foot of Inca ruins. Our hotel had a terrace with a view on these ruins. Absolutely incredible. / Miasteczko Ollantaytambo dosłownie leży u stóp ruin Inków. Nasz hotel miał taras na dachu z widokami na ruiny. Coś niesamowitego. 

Once a defending fortress and religious site, today Ollantaytambo ruins are a popular stop for many trekkers on the Inca trail.
But it is not just the remains that are worth visitting. The town at its foot has got a lot to offer too. It is full of Inca history as well, with the ancient walls, water canals and its general lay out kept in its original form. The atmosphere is great. You get the impression that life goes own in its own, slow and harmonious way over here. We really loved this place and are happy we used it as our base in Sacred Valley.

Kiedyś twierdza obronna i miejsce kultu religijnego, dzisiaj ruiny Ollantaytambo są popularnym przystankiem dla wędrowców na  Szlaku Inków.

Ale nie tylko ruiny warte są tu odwiedzenia. Miasteczko leżące u ich stóp ma również wiele do zaoferowania. Wypełnione jest historią, poczynając od starożytnych murów, małych kanałów przebiegających przez miasteczko, po ogólny jego układ, utrzymany w oryginalnej formie. Do tego fajny jest tu klimacik. Czuć tu, że życie płynie swoim własnym, powolnym, pełnym harmonii rytmem. Naprawdę nam się tutaj podobało i cieszymy się, że właśnie to miejsce wybraliśmy jako punkt wyjściowy do zwiedzania Świętej Doliny.

You are surrounded by striking and powerful views of the Andean mountains. / Człowiek jest tutaj otoczony mocnymi i efektownymi widokami Andów.

With just a few minutes walk from the main plaza of the town you enter the ancient world of Inca fortress. This is where Incas defeated the Spanish Conquistadors. Soon after that they abandoned it in favor of a more defensible location. / Kilka minut spacerkiem od głównego placu miasteczka i wchodzisz w świat starożytnej fortecy Inków. To tutaj Inkowie pokonali hiszpańskich inkwizytorów. W krótce zaś po wygranej opuścili oni  to miejsce i przenieśli się w bardziej obronne rejony.

The ruins boast original steps, a royal chamber, Temple of the Sun and and structure knows as "Princess Baths". A combined entrance ticket you can purchase will give you an option to visit other Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley. / Ruiny szczycą się oryginalnymi schodami, królewską komnatą, Świątynią Słońca i strukturą zwaną " Łaźnie Księżniczki". Na wejściówkę zakupioną w kasie składają się cztery bilety, które pozwalają odwiedzić inne ruiny Inków w Świętej Dolinie.

The ruins are overlooking Ollantaytambo town. Climbing up to see it is a challenge but well worth the effort. / Z wzgórza, na którym położone są ruiny rozpościera się widok na miasteczko Ollantaytambo. Wspiąć się to niemal wyczyn, ale warty zachodu.

Much of the town is unchanged, it's laid out in the same way as it was in Inca times. People are very welcoming and the atmosphere is peaceful. / Duża część miasteczka pozostała bez zmian, zwłaszcza jego układ, który jest taki sam od czasów starożytnych Inków. Miasteczko jest spokojne, a ludzie witają chętnie przybyszów.

The walls of the narrow streets are original Inca walls,  The small canals running througout the town are also dated back to Inca times. / Mury wąskich uliczek są oryginalnymi murami starożytnych Inków. Małe kanały przebiegające przez całe miasteczko również datowane są na czasy świetności Inków.

We just loved being surrounded by all this history and beauty. We'd say this town is a must see for anyone visitting Peru. / Uwielbialiśmy być otaczani całą tą historią i widokami górskimi. Według nas, każdy odwiedzający Peru powinien tu przyjechać.

School kids in the main plaza wearing bright ponchos. Lovely to see all these traditional clothes. / Dzieciaki po szkole przesiadujący na głównym placu w swoich poncho. Miło jest zobaczyć, że noszą tradycyjne stroje.

Time to eat something... The selection of food and restaurants is pleasing. We always chose a restaurant overlooking the Inca ruins! Can't beat that! / Czas coś przekąsić... Wybór jedzenia i restauracji jest zadowalający. Zawsze wybieraliśmy restaurację z widokiem na ruiny Inków! Tego się nie da przebić!

Two ladies just sitting and watching the world go by... It was a market day with the market taking place just around the corner from the main plaza. / Dwie kobietki siedzące sobie i obserwujące wszystko i wszystkich... Tego dnia zjeżdżali się wszyscy na bazar, który miał miejsce tuż za głównym placem.
